On The Run
A 2 track jungle / drum 'n' bass single (10m 32s) — released May 11th 2009 on Allsorts
Electrosoul System was the artist responsible for kicking off Allsorts back in 2007, after a break of over a year he's back on the label with two liquid rollers that are quite simply world class.
Since last release with us (ALLSORTS004) he's been busy setting up his own KosMos Music imprint as well as finding time to sneak releases onto Teebee's Subtitles label and DJ Marky's renound Innerground Records.
'On The Run' has all the hallmarks of an Electrosoul classic. A filtered piano slowly rises through the intro getting clearer and crisper with each bar, as the percussion fades away a and dreamy swirls combine with a female vocal snippet the beats are unleashed and your away, cruising down Route 66 with the wind in your hair. We love this tune, and so do a lot of DJ's with plays across the board from the likes Nookie through to Chrisy Chris on BBC 1Xtra.
'Whale Dance' finds Electrosoul System in deep mode. Light hypnotic percussion and dreamy pads set the scene for this space age track which wouldn't be out of place in a 2001 Space Odyssey remake. As always with ESS this tracks doesn't sit still, twisting turning and changing without you even noticing, with familiar elements slipping in and out. Think old skool atmospheric Good Looking style with 2009 production. Sublime.
